Date: March 2017
We recently completed a project in Peel Lodge which stands in the shadow of Linlithgow Palace. Finished in early March 2017, this project consisted of twelve replacement sash and case windows and a side opening casement. In such a historic setting great care has to be taken to ensure replacement windows are manufactured to closely match the originals.
This view of the front exterior of the building shows the fitted replacements on the rightmost building alongside original windows on the leftmost building. Our windows were finished in high quality, environmentally safe green exterior paint to closely match the original colour.
The view here of the front shows the side opening casement fitted to the stunning and historic dormer. Below the dormer is a four over six sash and case with horn detailing on the top sash.
A close up here of remaining original windows in the leftmost building vs our replacements. Double glazed units in the new windows to provide higher thermal insulation.
A view here of the gable end of the building showing four over four’s.
Linlithgow Palace as seen from Peel Lodge. If only we could replace these windows! Perhaps Historic Scotland will give us a call…
