Refurbishment Works to 15 Hatton Place, Newington.

Edinburgh Sash and Case carried out extensive sash and case window refurbishment to this property at 15 Hatton place, situated in the Newington area of Edinburgh. 15 Hatton place is owned by the  CLIC Sargent organisation which is the leading cancer charity for children, young people, and their families.

There were a total of  21 windows that were refurbished in this C Listed property so the works were split up into different stages.

Our fitters started off by removing the existing sashes, placing them aside and refurbishing the casements. We removed the old pointing, weights, the existing ironmongery and any cills which needed replaced.  The baton rods and parting beads were removed and disposed of.  The casements were then sanded smooth removing any existing paint.

The sashes were sanded down, broken panes replaced, astrigals repaired and filled where necessary and made ready for re-fitting.  Not all sashes could be salvaged as some had completed rotted through.  These sashes were brought back to our workshops where our workshop joiners manufactured new sashes to match the existing and our glaziers carried out the reglazing work..

The casements were then fitted with new ball bearing solid brass pulley wheels. Sashes were re-balanced and then our window teams re-roped and re-fitted the sashes.

All windows on the upper levels of the property had the simplex (easy clean system fitted). This system allows the bottom sash to open inwards into the room for easy, safe cleaning.

At the end of each stage when the joinery works were complete, our painting division then fully prepared and painted the windows both internally and externally.
